Important Update: Uninstall AnyDesk — Recommended Actions
As a follow-up to our recent communication, we are taking precautionary measures to mitigate potential risks and ensure the continued protection of your data. In line with this, for the time being, we will block any attempt to use AnyDesk within the Atera platform. We are blocking the integration from within Atera, so the AnyDesk button is now inactive.
AnyDesk recommends that you immediately uninstall the AnyDesk software—including older and breached versions—from all your devices as a security precaution. To assist you in this process, we have uploaded a tried and tested script in our Shared Script Library called: “Uninstall Anydesk custom client”.
You can also uninstall AnyDesk in the Settings menu in your Atera Console, by going to Admin > My account > Account settings > Remote access > AnyDesk, then click "Disable and Uninstall" at the bottom.
As an alternative for your remote access needs, we recommend exploring solutions within the Atera platform, such as Splashtop.
We’re working with AnyDesk on a new secured, up-to-date client to enable the integration again. We’ll of course update you when it’s ready and we’ll reactivate the AnyDesk integration.
Our team is committed to providing a secure and reliable experience, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to support@atera.com
Sincerely,
Team Atera

Is there a quick way to run a report across all systems if its installed? We dont use it as our primary but here and there when needed and prefer to not blast a script to everything.nm looks like this report works fine, will the uninstall hover button that shows up where i circled green work vs the script?

I can’t find the mention on AnyDesk site to remove the software on devices. Anyone as the official mention from them ?

The script did not work for me on the one installation I had. However, since it was just the one, I remote over and uninstalled it.

that doesn't show you the disable and uninstall feature you guys have added. only if you run the scripts manually

guys the script worked on most, but then i have some other machines with installs like the attached image that wasn't like the others. is there a similar script that can uninstall the one like the attached. this is all the same machine.

As mentioned above by @chansen, maybe you will find it through Software Inventory from Classic Reports
Atleast mine found two different. From the report you can then uninstall.

thanks Anton, so what did you ammend the script to?

Hi @RunningHome , this is a precautionary measure from our side to ensure that no secuirty issue will occu on your devices (which have the Atera agent installed).
1 -
Hi @rob , if you have an issue next time please open a ticket with our Support team so we can assist you! We tested the script on our end, and many users have cloned it, so we know that it works as expected. The issue you experienced was likely a local issue or an isolated case outside of the Atera agent or console.

Wasn't worth the time and further explanations and the token request for the same answer you gave.

Hi, How long until we get Anydesk back?
when it is safe to enable it?2 -
Hi @lauri.kinnunen , thanks for asking.
We anticipate that the integration will be re-enabled within a few days once we upgrade to the latest version recommended by AnyDesk. We have temporarily blocked the integration until we confirm there is no risk.
This action was taken with the priority of maintaining our customers' security.
We really appreciate your patience, and can assure you we are working to get this back and running ASAP.

I'm trying to reach the Atera Support page. I keep getting redirected back to my own RMM ticketing dashboard even when in Incognito mode. Is there no support available?

When new version of AnyDesk becomes available and we enable it again as default, will it overwrite any older version of AnyDesk automatically or do we still have to manually uninstall older version?

Any update would be better than radio silence.

AnyDesk Custom Clients (Windows)
: The latest version is 7.0.15 and comes with our new certificates. However, we have updated all versions available in the Custom Client Generator with our new certificate to ensure that you can continue to use the version you have been using. Please download and deploy this version to your devices.
AnyDesk Custom Clients (macOS)
: The latest version is 8.0.0 and comes with our new certificates. However, we have updated all versions available in the Custom Client Generator with our new certificate to ensure that you can continue to use the version you have been using. Please download and deploy this version to your devices. Also, please note that the new certificates remain to be signed by philandro Software GmbH.
These versions should be available now and hopefully rolled out for Atera users soon?2 -
Hi @jfrisbee , Sarah from Atera here.
The versions you mentioned should be available. However, the download links that Anydesk have given us do not work.
I can ensure you that it's our top priority to re-enable Anydesk, but not at the cost of putting our customers at risk. Unfortunately, we are relying 100% on Anydesk at the moment to provide the fix.
As soon as we have any new update, I will let you know!

We have been using Splashtop since going love with Atera, and have not had any issues with it. Good luck to everyone making the (at least temporary) switch.

I also use Splashtop as primary, but having a backup is important.
Splashtop has gone down in the recent past and remote access is critical for a lot of tasks.

Hello,
When will AnyDesk be available? Splashtop custom client has been a NIGHTMARE to use. It would've been nice if there was alternatives to the Splashtop client. Especially since it mutes every Teams call once it launches. You have to run a script to disable it…
1 -
There is a registry key that fixes this.
REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Splashtop Inc.\Splashtop Remote Server" /v Automute /t REG_DWORD /d 2 /f

I already created a script that does that. But it "Shouldn't" have to be done. It's kind of ridiculous you have to change the registry on every machine just to use the RMM. It's incredibly counter intuitive. There needs to be an option to permanently turn this feature off.
