Hi,

i have been seeing lot of event id 0, errors in Event logs of devices that have Atera and Anydesk installed.

There are hunderds of these events onevery computer, have anyone else encountered this? if so do you have solution available? i have not been able to find or create one.

Here is the error detaisl.

The description for Event ID 0 from source AnyDesk cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Couldn't impersonate (000003f0).

I noticed this issue and had a chat with support before finding this post.

I got the same response, but they did give a work around which could probably be scripted if it works.

I have not tried it yet as I may just wait and see if there is an update before looking at it, but this is what they suggested:

Delete the two values, namely IconStreams and PastIconsStream from
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify

    Relaunch explorer.exe

    Restart the PC.

@nina could you help me to get contact on the support team, preferably someone who is already familiar whit the issue so we can look in to this. this is now a suspect for also causing some minor lag on computers when these events are created.

Hi @lauri.kinnunen, Sarah from Atera here.

These errors are mainly generated because there are some firewall rules in place blocking the AnyDesk servers.

Please check the main firewalls prerequisites from Anydesk's main webpage, the same ports and server are mentioned in our dedicated article as well.

Once whitelisted, Anydesk will work as expected in your environment.

If you still have trouble, please open a ticket with our support team.

It’s not a firewall issue on my end! I have the Atera Agent installed on over 130 devices across various locations. All clients are experiencing the problem. The AnyDesk client is also connected and shows a green checkmark, and it’s functioning properly. The issue is that a log entry is generated every second, and the log is getting cluttered. It's so bad that you can’t see any other log entries because only the AnyDesk entries are present, causing the log to overflow. The suggestion regarding the Windows Registry entry was also UNsuccessful.

You can also find online that AnyDesk versions 7.0.14 and 7.0.15 have issues related to this. Currently, AnyDesk version 8.x is available, which supposedly fixes the problem. The first entries here date back to October 2023. I’ve already asked about this multiple times in the chat. Why is nothing being done? Why don’t you add the new AnyDesk client that the Atera Agent installs? This issue has been ongoing for almost a year, and nothing is happening!
