Block Hours Contracts just got upgraded! An upcoming improvement will provide all technicians with a clearer view of the remaining hours left for each customer directly in each ticket associated with a block hours contract.

This will ensure no one in your team works overtime without it being settled with your customer.

Additionally, once the block hours are completed, all associated tickets will display a banner notifying technicians that work is being billed at the overage rate if it's defined and if not, to create a new contract.

The associated tickets clearly display the overage hours worked in the Contact info - so you and your team can easily track of the contract's overage usage!

In case you need a refresher, here’s how to create a block hours contract:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Business Administration > Contracts.
  2. Click New Contract and fill in details such as the customer name, contract dates, and whether it’s active, default, or taxable.
  3. Select Block Hours under Contract Type and customize key settings like:
    • Contract amount (hours in the block).
    • Billing period and hourly rate.
    • Overage rate and SLA plan.
    • Rollover settings for unused hours.
  4. Save—and you’re ready to go!

    Looks pretty good.

I would love to have cascading contracts. I have one client that has two separate contracts. One is a dedicated tech with 40 hours per week or 160 in a month and then they also have our managed service contract with 30 hours of billable time included. It would be nice if the system could count down the first contract block hours and then instead of overage rate:

Being an hourly rate it would be great if I could select the other contract as the overage. Then in that second contract I could choose another contract or have an hourly overage rate. Hope that makes sense.
