Splashtop remote access to Debian Linux client
Hello all.
Most of the systems I support through Atera RMM are Windows systems, but there are some exceptions. Recently, I've tried installing Atera Agent on a new system I just built with Debian GNU/Linux 12, my preferred distro for general purpose systems (this particular system basically just needs to run a web browser). Debian 12 comes in several flavors in its "live CD" installation, generally based on the hardware platform and the desired desktop environment.
Initially, I built the system using XFCE, which worked OK, but I decided I'd try to build something with KDE instead, since, out of the box, KDE Fusion (in my opinion) looks most like the Windows 10 GUI, which is what most of this customer's other systems are.
And that's where things started to go wrong. When I install a KDE-based GUI instead of XFCE, the splashtop streamer that gets installed on the machine does not seem to be able to provide remote access beyond the login screen. If I click "Connect" in the Atera console to connect to the screen, I can see the SDDM login screen and log in with an appropriate account. But after that, my remote session sees just a black screen, and mouse and keyboard activity in my splashtop windows are not reflected on the remote system.
I know the splashtop support for Linux in Atera RMM is relatively new, but I was hoping this would work. Any thoughts on how to make this work?
