Patch management issues

Recently I have been experiencing issues with Atera's patch management.
It reporting patches that are already installed as missing, Its recommending patches that aren't relevant to the machines and it is also just failing to install other patches.

When it comes to 3rd party patches the reporting and management for it isn't great there is no way to review what has been run on the machines or what has been installed. We did reach out to Atera support about this and we where basically told that they outsource this to chocolaty and that they trust them to make sure the patches are right. Again this is an issue as there is no way to review what has been installed or ran on the machines. There are a few ways that I can make use of to sort of get a brief idea of what has been done but nothing detailed or solid.

This is sad as we have been making use of Atera for about two years now and are only starting to experience these issues now.

I don't know if anyone else has been experiencing these issues so that's why i am making a post here in case anyone maybe has experienced similar issues and is able to help.

    Heya,

I've reached out internally for a CSM to have a look, I'll update if there are anything else required.
Oh, and let us know if you were able to find a solution for everyone to learn from!

I've noticed some patches get stuck and wont be installed by the Atera agent unless you allow local updates from the configuration policy. Which is less than ideal but has a higher success rate.

What I typically do is run the automation policy several times per day, for a few days. Then when I'm left with the devices that need to be caught up I enable local updates and repeat the process.

Lastly some devices still may not be patched so I have to manually update these. I fear this may be a limitation of windows because other RMMs have similar issues. I've had the best luck with Atera.

Appreciate the positive outlook there and tips @vsilva , and glad that at least you have the best success with Atera.
Still annoying to go through things manually and track down pesky updates.

Hopefully once Hades hears back they might be able to shed more light on this.

I experienced Atera software patching are slower than other patching tools and what hades mention was right. Sometime it doesnt work and i felts, as a MSP myself heavily rely on Atera for patch management. Would suggest Atera look into improving the patch management for vulnerability as well as third party software to be more robust.

Just wondering if anyone has seen a fix for this issue.
Almost none of the machines I maintain through Atera report properly their patch status.
As of this morning, Atera is reporting to me 3 specific machines are behind in updates, even though I manually patched them completely days ago.
As to Atera running patches...I have never seen this successfully done.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
